Steps in Building a Pit in the Ground

How To Build Your In-ground Pit
When you are planning to have endless resting haven that is more soothing and relaxing, and sitting around the crackling fire pit is one of the best options, then try to build one of those adorable fire pits at your backyard.

Adults and children have the same appeal on open fire. They enjoy the view and the excitement the dancing flames may provide to them. They can either toast a marshmallow or grill a barbeque over the open flames or maybe just sipping a coffee and starting a deep conversation. Fire pits guarantee to make everybody's world the best place to live. Thus, building an outdoor fire pit to any backyard makes everyday life really exciting.

How To Build Your In-ground Pit
If you are planning to own a pit in your backyard, you must follow some steps. First, you must choose the right location for your fire pits. Make sure that you install the pit in the open field, with no trees nearby or any flammable objects hanging because pits could catch fire. Having a leveled location or surface for pits is also essential. Depending on the design, it may accommodate a slight slope. And also, make sure that there aren't any wires installed underground, pipes or cable in the location.

Place a stake into the ground where you are planning to put the fire pit. Tie a piece of a string into the stake then connect a stick or nail for about two feet away the stake. Create a circle around the stake that would serve as the skeleton for the pit, then mark the line circle with flour or spray paint. Dig a hole inside the circle of about one foot deep then remove the sod and dirt in the circle's base. At the center of the pit, where you would place a fire, dig a deep excavation for about six or eight inches deep.

How To Build Your In-ground PitScrape the base of the hole and pour in pea gravel for about four inches high and likewise to the center of the hole. If you created a hole on a slope, you can level its bottom by adding more gravel to the low side. Adding a pea gravel to the base of the pit will help the pit to drain rainwater instead of collecting them to its base. Add sand to the top of the gravel of about three inches high. The sand prevent the fire from spreading to the roots of the pit.

After the base was successfully made up, surround the pit with decorative stones with at least two rows on top of each other. Do not use adhesives to hold the decorative stones together. Adhesives are flammable and will give off fumes that are hazardous to the health. After these steps were successfully performed, you can now wait the evening to come to build the first fire. Sit back and enjoy the pits you created while having some open conversation with your family members or friends. Remember, the pit will not only be used as an ordinary outdoor lighting for the sake of conversation. They could also be the center of the design in your soon-to-be celebrated  birthday party.
